Agitar Wins 2005 Technology Innovation Award from the Wall Street Journal
Agitator hailed as "important advance in making error-free code writing"
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 31, 2005 — Agitar Software, the leader in enterprise developer testing, today announced that the company’s flagship product, Agitator, was selected as the Software Winner in The Wall Street Journal’s second Global Technology Innovation Awards competition. The awards recognize technological breakthroughs by individuals, companies, and organizations from around the world in a wide range of areas including medicine, hardware, the Internet, wireless, and broadcasting.
"Innovation is the key for any company to have continued success, and through these awards The Wall Street Journal recognizes these technological breakthroughs throughout the world," said Karen Elliott House, publisher of The Wall Street Journal, and senior vice president, Dow Jones & Company. "This year’s winners showed the creative thinking that has allowed them to rise to the top of their respective industries."
"Having our software test automation technology being recognized by such an influential publication as the Wall Street Journal is a great honor," said Alberto Savoia, Agitar’s co-founder and CTO. "It is additional evidence that finding new ways of improving software quality is important to executives focused on revenue growth and profitability, and not just to the technical communities. Businesses and government organizations worldwide are learning about the impact of software quality on their financial performance."
Award winners were selected by an independent panel of judges, who considered the following factors, among others, in making their selections:
- The innovation should go well beyond what already exists and cannot simply represent an incremental improvement;
- The innovation needs to address major challenges for which new solutions would have a wide-ranging impact in a particular industry;
- The application needs to be supported by rigorous data rather than unsubstantiated claims of potential.
The award winners can be found in the Monday, October 24, 2005 Journal Report in the print editions of The Wall Street Journal, The Wall Street Journal Asia, and The Wall Street Journal Europe. The winners can also be found online at www.wsj.com.
