software agitation Becomes New Unit Testing Standard at Global Bank

Comprehensive Roll Out of AgitarOne Agitator Initiated

APRIL 27, 2011 - CRANSTON, RI - A worldwide banking leader, with over 30 million customers, has selected AgitarOne Agitator as the de facto unit testing solution for their critical legacy Java code. Agitator provides the bank with a unique interactive understanding of code behavior as their developers write or modify Java classes or methods. Through exclusive software agitation™ technology, Agitator helps the developers validate the expected behavior of their code and discover unexpected behaviors.

The bank required a solution that would be able to write hundreds of reliable and repeatable unit tests for their new Error Handling Framework. To really unit test code, every line, every branch, and every outcome must be tested, but the bank recognized that it is not practical to create such exhaustive tests manually. Agitator met the challenge, demonstrating the ability to automatically create dynamic test cases, synthesize sets of input data, and analyze the results. Furthermore, when objects depended on other objects, Agitator automatically “mocked”, or constructed, those objects, enabling full analysis of the possible behaviors of the code, even when depending on third-party libraries.

Agitator will also be rolled out in order to test defect fixes on the bank’s legacy Java code. The bank was very excited with the results of the proof of concept, feeling very positive about what has been and will be achieved using Agitator and has determined that Agitation will be used to unit test from now on.

“We are obviously quite very pleased with the decision,” says David Belhumeur, CEO of Agitar Technologies. “We consider it a big win for Agitar when an organization of this standing puts their trust in our solutions.”
